therefore that the proper adjustment is to

provide that all Mistresses at present on

the old scale should if promoted to Senior

Mistress continue on the old scale and should

not come on to the new scale unless further

promoted to the post of Principal, BelilioS

Public School.

3.

A further anomaly has been pointed

out in connection with the new scale of

salary for the latter post, viz: £750 by 30

to £900. A Senior Mistress after three

years' service on the old scale of salary

would have her pension based on £750 salary

plus one-sixth, i.e. a total of £875 in

pensionable emoluments. If subsequently

promoted to Principal, Belilios Public School,

on the new scale of salary for that post, her

pensionable emoluments would, in accordance

with Regulation 11(a) of the Pensions

Regulations, remain at £875 for three years

but in her fourth year as Principal they

would drop to £810. The most satisfactory

adjustment in this case, admittedly a

hypothetical one at present, would be that any Senior

Mistress on the old scale of salary should, on

promotion to Principal, Belilios Public School, enter

the new salary scale of that post at £810 (instead of

at £750). She would then at no point lose in

pensionable emoluments and the promotion would

represent a definite advantage to her.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient, humble servant,

1. As. Northesto

Governor.
